The Best Prince Edward County Wedding Venues to Photograph & Film
We've spent years filming and photographing weddings across Prince Edward County — and after enough golden hours at Sandbanks and first dances in heritage barns, you start to see venues differently. Not just "is it pretty?" but: where does the light fall at 6pm in September? Is there a rain plan that still looks good on camera? How far is the getting-ready spot from the ceremony? This is our working guide to the County's best wedding venues from behind the lens — the advice we give our own couples.
Wineries & Vineyards
The Grange of Prince Edward
What we love filming here: Rolling vineyard rows and an old-world feel. Vineyards are a filmmaker's gift — leading lines everywhere, and the low evening sun filters through the vines for portraits that feel like they were shot in wine country, because they were.
What to know: Vineyard ceremonies usually mean full sun. If your ceremony is midday in July, ask about shade for guests and plan portraits for the hour before sunset instead.
Lakeside & Waterfront
Drake Devonshire
What we love filming here: Boutique-hotel energy right on Lake Ontario. The water gives you a horizon line, reflected light, and sunsets that do half our job for us. Intimate scale, design-forward interiors, great in every season.
Lakecroft
What we love filming here: A newer lakefront glamping-style venue. Open sky, beach ceremonies, tented dinners. On film it reads relaxed and adventurous — ideal for couples who want their day to feel like a beautiful long weekend, not a production.
Historic & Estate
The Cape
What we love filming here: A restored historic mansion in downtown Picton with gardens, salons, and room to scale from intimate to very large. Architecturally it's the most cinematic venue in the County — staircases, verandas, mature trees; every direction is a frame.
The Royal Hotel
What we love filming here: Heritage building, contemporary interiors, exceptional food. Indoor light here is unusually good for a hotel, which matters more than couples expect — your reception photos live or die on the room's light.
Farm & Barn
The Eddie Hotel & Farm
What we love filming here: The iconic red barn is over 150 years old, and it photographs exactly how a County wedding feels in your imagination — golden fields, weathered wood, string lights at night.

What we love filming here: Green fields, big sky, and West Lake as the backdrop. Weather becomes part of the story here — we've filmed moody-cloud days at Fields that ended up more beautiful than any forecast-perfect one.
The Sandbanks Factor
Wherever you book, you're likely within 20 minutes of Sandbanks Provincial Park. Many of our couples do a short portrait session on the dunes — either day-of at golden hour or as part of their engagement session. Two practical notes: the park requires appropriate permits for commercial photography, and summer weekends are busy — a weekday engagement session gets you the dunes to yourselves.
The dunes at sunset are the single most distinctive backdrop in Ontario.
How to Choose (A Filmmaker's Checklist)
1. Golden hour access. Can you step out for 20 minutes of portraits an hour before sunset? This one habit improves every wedding gallery we deliver.
2. The rain plan. Ask to see it. A beautiful plan B means you never gamble your ceremony on the forecast.
3. Getting-ready space. Big windows and natural light in the prep rooms make your morning footage feel like part of the film, not an afterthought.
4. Distance between locations. Every transit eats timeline. Venues where ceremony, portraits, and reception are steps apart give you more actual wedding.
5. Sound. Outdoor ceremonies near open water can be windy — we mic accordingly, but it's worth knowing.
Planning a PEC Wedding From Out of Town?
Most of our couples are. The County's vendor community is small and collaborative — your photographer, videographer, and planner have almost certainly worked together before. Book venue first (12–18 months out for Saturdays in peak season), then photo/video, since the best of both book out early for September and October.
